Driver App Onboarding (Europe)

The new ChargePoint App version 7.1.0 (August 2026) introduces numerous improvements and new features such as:

• Pay-as-you-Go

• Enhanced Waitlist experience

• Smartcar integration (availability depends on the vehicle model)

• Route Planning capabilities (tied to Smartcar integration)

• Improved EV database

This topic describes the new process required for administrators and drivers, from creating a ChargePoint driver account for the first time to joining their company’s ChargePoint connection. With the launch of ChargePoint App version 7.0, access to the app is now by invitation only. Drivers receive a Connection invite from their organisation either as a QR code or as a link. They are guided through a streamlined process of signing up and onboarding the app.

Pay-as-you-Go is another new feature available in this version using which drivers can now be billed per charging session based on actual consumption; a flexible and transparent billing option for all ChargePoint users.
