ChargePoint CMS Suite Migration FAQs

ChargePoint is updating the default station management experience from the classic interface to the modern ChargePoint CMS Suite. These FAQs address what this transition means for your daily operations, your charging stations, your data, and your team.

The Immediate Transition

What is changing right now?

When you log in to your ChargePoint portal, you will now land directly in CMS Suite rather than the classic interface. CMS Suite is built for faster page loads, enhanced operational control, and consolidated real-time dashboards for station health, energy usage, and financial reporting.

Is the classic interface shutting down immediately? Can I switch back if I am in a rush?

No, the classic interface is not shutting down immediately. And yes, you can switch back at any time during this transition period. You can use the following options to switch interfaces:

  • Instant Switch: You can return to the classic view any time via your user profile. Navigate to you profile in the bottom-left corner and click Switch to legacy UI to return to the classic view.

  • Default Preference Control: You can set up your personal default landing page while your team gets familiar with CMS Suite. Navigate to you profile in the bottom-left corner and click User Details. Under Settings, click Edit to set up your default UI preference. You can switch between Legacy UI and CMS Suite (New UI).
That said, we strongly encourage you to explore the new platform and let us know if anything you rely on is not quite ready for you yet!

  • Advance Sunset Notice: We will provide clear advance notice before the classic interface is permanently retired.

Do I need to update my login credentials, roles, or bookmarks?

No updates are required on your part. Your login credentials and account permissions carry over without interruption. While existing bookmarks will automatically route to the correct page, updating them to suite.chargepoint.com helps ensure direct access moving forward.

You can continue logging in just as you do today. The following information gets carried over automatically:

  • Login Credentials: Your existing username and password configuration remain identical.

  • Permissions & Roles: Your existing admin roles, sub-operator rights, and organizational permissions transfer seamlessly.

  • Bookmarks: We recommend updating your bookmarks to suite.chargepoint.com, though your existing bookmarks will automatically route you to the right place.

Station Operations & Continuity

Will this update affect active charging sessions, station uptime, or drivers?

Absolutely not. This transition only enhances the web management interface you use to view and administer your network. It has zero impact on the following components:

  • Station Hardware & Firmware: Physical charging stations continue to operate normally with no reboot or downtime.

  • Driver Experience: Mobile app access, RFID cards, Tap-to-Charge, Waitlist, and roaming sessions are completely unaffected.

  • Active Sessions: Ongoing or scheduled charging sessions will continue uninterrupted.

Will my pricing rules, driver access groups (ACLs), or billing settings change?

No. All existing station and account configurations remain completely unaffected.

  • Pricing Policies: Your per-kWh rates, hourly charges, time-of-use (TOU) schedules, and session fees continue to apply without any changes.

  • Access Control (ACLs): All driver groups, partner connections, and station access permissions stay fully intact.

  • Flex Billing & Payouts: Revenue collection and remittance schedules continue without interruption.

Reporting & Daily Workflows

What happens to my existing scheduled email reports from the classic interface?

Your scheduled email reports will continue delivering on their existing schedule. Backend reporting services are independent of your default UI setting. Additionally, you can create, customize, and export new reports directly in CMS Suite. For more information, see Reports.

Technical, Multi-Org & API Integrations

Does this update affect our API integrations, Webhooks, or OCPP/OCPI connections?

No. All ChargePoint REST/SOAP APIs, Webhooks, OCPI, and OCPP integrations continue operating without any changes to endpoints, credentials, or data schemas.

We manage multiple organizations or sub-operator accounts. Can I still switch between them?

Yes. Multi-organization switching is built directly into the top header bar of CMS Suite, allowing you to switch between parent and child accounts without logging out.

Training, Support & Feedback

How can my team get up to speed on CMS Suite quickly?

Getting started is simple with built-in platform support. Team members can use the following resources to navigate through the platform:

  • In-App AI Data Assistant: Access the in-app AI assistant available in CMS Suite to ask questions about station status, charging activity, or platform features using everyday language.

  • Knowledge Base & Guides: Access comprehensive guided walkthroughs and reference documentation available in the ChargePoint CMS Suite Online Help.

What if I encounter an issue or a workflow my team relies on is missing?

Click the Feedback button in the CMS Suite navigation bar to send direct input to our product and engineering team, or reach out to your dedicated Service Delivery Manager (SDM) or ChargePoint Support.
