Prepare to Activate on the ChargePoint Network

Before leaving the installation site, you must prepare the newly installed station(s) for activation as described in this section.

You Will Need

  • The CPF32’s MACClosed Message Authentication Code address and activation password, shown at right (this information is printed on an activation label that is affixed to the CPF32’s main unit, and a spare label is included in the shipping box with each main unit)

  • The exact location (to the parking space) where the CPF32 is physically installed

  • A smartphone with Internet access

  • Installer account information (user name and password) on ChargePoint (provided upon completion of training)

  • Pinpoint the Station(s)

    1. Using your smartphone, navigate to m.chargepoint.com.

    2. Log into the ChargePoint mobile site from your smartphone with your installer credentials.

    3. Enter the MACClosed Message Authentication Code address and activation password printed on the CPF32’s activation label, and touch Next.

    4. Confirm that you are installing a newCPF32 charging station.

    5. When prompted, touch OK to share your GPS location data with the ChargePoint mobile site.

    6. When prompted, touch OK to review the station’s location on GoogleTM Maps.

    7. Review the station address and zoom in to review the initial position of the station’s pin on the map.

    8. Using your finger, move the pin to the correct parking spot location.

    9. If needed, manually adjust the address of the station’s location.

    10. Take a picture of the station using your smartphone. Scroll down to Upload a Station Picture and choose the station picture.

    11. Add helpful information for drivers.

    12. Touch SUBMIT to pinpoint the station on the ChargePoint map.

    Start a Test Charging Session

    1. Use your ChargePoint RFIDClosed Radio Frequency IDentification card to start and stop a charging session.

    2. Make sure that the plug holster unlocks. Plugging into a real vehicle is not required.

    If the station operates correctly and no errors exist, the installation is complete. If the station does not power up or fails to attempt a charging session, de-energize the circuit and confirm that the wiring has been properly connected. If the station has been properly wired but does not operate correctly, you must resolve the error before leaving the site. Refer to the Installation Guide or contact chargepoint.com/support for assistance.

    Fill out the Radio Group sticker page and Checklist page in the Quick Reference Guide that shipped with the charging station. Provide this information to the person responsible for activating the Gateway and the CPF32 charging stations.
