Set a Power Limit for the Group

To set a power limit for the station group, complete the following steps:

Share Power at the Circuit/Panel Level

To share energy from a single electrical panel among multiple stations sites, complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to ChargePoint Platform.

  2. Navigate to Manage Energy > Share Power.

  3. Click the arrow  ▷  beside your organization name to find the power sharing group you created.

  4. The Power Management enabled column will display a green check mark if enabled or a progress bar if activation is pending. Hover over any progress bar to see more details about that group’s enabled status.

  1. Click Edit on groups that have power management enabled to change the settings for that energy group.

  1. Select your power allocation preference by clicking the Panel Sharing Policy drop-down.

Select Equal Share to ensure equal power sharing or First In First Serve (FIFS) to allow prioritized power sharing.

  2. Click the Share power at drop-down list and select Circuit/Panel Level.

  3. Click the Type of Panel drop-down list and select your phase type.

    1. For Single Phase, enter the total Panel Capacity that will be reserved for vehicle charging and click Save.

For example, if your panel has 100 A service feeding it, enter 100 Amps. Per NEC code, no more than 80% of the value you enter will be shared across stations.

    2. For Three Phase, enter the total Panel Capacity that will be reserved for vehicle charging and click Enter circuit breaker numbers to enter your unique circuit breaker pairs for all ports.

      Click Done.

  4. Click Save.

Once Power Sharing is enabled for this group, a green check mark appears by the group name in the Share Power table. Typically, new policies take effect in a few minutes.

  5. You can click Show Graph to see the power limit and the actual power dispensed over time.
