ChargePoint Protect

ChargePoint Protect is a software feature available on supported ChargePoint stations connected to the ChargePoint Platform. It is designed to help station owners detect and respond to cable tampering or theft.

When enabled, ChargePoint Protect triggers a visual and audible alarm if a cable cut is detected and sends notifications through the ChargePoint Platform. The feature can also extend alerts to nearby stations within the same organization.

ChargePoint Protect provides an added layer of security for your charging network by combining real-time detection, on-station alerts, and network-wide awareness. By enabling this feature, station owners can quickly identify potential cable tampering, notify relevant contacts, and extend visibility to nearby stations—all without disrupting active charging sessions.

When properly configured, ChargePoint Protect helps reduce the risk of vandalism, improve response times, and maintain a reliable charging experience for drivers.

ChargePoint Protect performs the following actions:

• Detects cable cut events in real time.

• Activates a Security Alert screen on the affected station.

• Triggers an audible alarm (if enabled).

• Flashes red and white LEDs.

• Places the station into System Lock Out (charging disabled)

• Sends alerts to ChargePoint Platform.

• Optionally notifies configured customer contacts.

• Triggers alerts on nearby stations within a configurable radius.
