Understanding ChargePoint Protect
When a cable cut event is detected, the charging station automatically enters Vandalism Mode and initiates a coordinated security response across the network. Cable cut detection is based on built-in sensors, Resistance Temperature Detector (RTDs), within the charging cable. Most cables include two RTDs. If the station no longer receives signals from both the RTDs, the cable is identified as cut.
At the impacted station, the system immediately transitions into a visible and audible alert state. This includes the following reactions:

A Security Alert screen displayed on the station interface

Flashing red and white LEDs to signal a critical condition

An audible alarm (if enabled in settings)

Entry into System Lock Out, preventing new charging sessions
At the same time, the station reports a critical fault to ChargePoint Platform. This allows the platform to extend the alert beyond the affected unit.
Once the event is received by the platform, alerts are triggered on nearby stations within the configured radius and notifications are sent to configured customer contacts (if provided).
Nearby stations respond by displaying the same security alert and, depending on configuration, playing an audible alarm. Any vehicles already charging at these stations are not impacted and their sessions continue uninterrupted.
ChargePoint Protect is a software-based feature and does not depend on cut-resistant cables. It operates with both standard and cut-resistant cables using built-in detection logic.
By default, ChargePoint Protect is disabled and must be enabled by a user with the Network Manager role.
