Power Off

You must be a ChargePoint Certified Technician to power off the charging station, or warranty limitations apply.

  1. An Express Plus Pantograph Down 2000 cluster can have one or more Power Blocks connected to one or more Power Link 2000s in what is called a cluster. The Power Link 2000s then connect to one or more PD Controllers. Refer to the site's single line diagram (SLD) and identify the following:

    • All Power Blocks, Power Link 2000s, and PD Controllers to be serviced.

    • All Power Link 2000s within the same cluster as the products identified above.

  2. End all charging sessions on all Power Link 2000s identified in step above.

Failure to end the charging session before beginning service could damage hardware components. Such damaged components may need to be replaced.

  3. Disconnect the 3-phase AC high voltage (HVClosed High Voltage) power for each Power Block within the Express Plus cluster. Disconnect the single-phase AC power to the PD Controller. Refer to the site's SLD and identify the location of control elements such as circuit breakers and disconnect switches.

Technical illustration depicts the procedural step.

    (a) Transformer configuration

    (b) Ground connection

    (c) Electrical panel

    (d) Circuit breakers

    (e) AC disconnect switch (optional)

There are two methods for HVClosed High Voltage power disconnect:

    • At the site electrical panel, turn the circuit breaker (d)  switch to the OFF position to power off all Power Blocks and Power Link 2000s downstream of the breaker.

    • If an AC disconnect switch has been installed between Power Block and the site electrical panel, turn the AC disconnect switch (e) to the OFF position to power off all Power Blocks and Power Link 2000s downstream of the AC disconnect switch.

      .

  4. Wait for energy to dissipate (approximately five minutes).

  5. Verify that Power Block(s) and PD Controller are de-energized.

Check Power Block Status Light

  1. Open the security panel to check the status light.

Open the security panel to check the status light

  2. The status light must be off (unlit). If the status light is on (glowing any color), do not proceed further with servicing. Wait the required time for energy to dissipate.

When you power on, the status light should turn on (light up yellow). If the light is red, contact ChargePoint at chargepoint.com/support.

Check PD Controller Power Status

To check the PD Controller status light, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the PD Controller.

  2. Check the status LED on the top of the power supply before you begin service.

The LED must be off. If the LED is on (red or green), AC power is still connected.
