Power Off the Station

Power off at the breaker panel and lock out/tag out before continuing work.

Risk of shock
  • Before any procedure, disconnect the power. If station is paired, disconnect the power to both paired charging stations.

  • Follow local code and site lockout/tagout procedure to de-energize the station.

  • Wait for energy to dissipate (approximately five minutes).

  • Keep power off until all covers and panels are reinstalled and the work is complete.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury, loss of life, or property damage.

Before You Begin

  1. Remove the Area Light Bar.

  2. Remove the Top Front Panel.

  3. Remove the Front Lower Panels.

  4. Remove the Upper and Lower Rear Panels.

Remove the Side Panels

To remove the side panels, configure the following steps:

  1. Remove the charging cables from the holster, and set them down gently on a padded surface.

  2. Remove the Power Module.

  3. Loosen the two middle (a) and two lower captive screws (b).

Technical illustration depicts the procedural step.

  4. Using a step ladder, hold the side panel and partially loosen the top two captive screws with a T25 Torx screwdriver.

Technical illustration depicts the procedural step.

  5. Tilt the bottom of the right side panel out slightly to extract its top edge from under the bottom edge of the area light bar. Lift the side panel off the guide pins on each side of the frame and remove it.

Set the side panel aside gently.

Technical illustration depicts the procedural step.

  6. Repeat the preceding step to remove the left side panel.

Install New Side Panels

Side panels prevent electrical shock hazard before powering on the charging station. These steps are the same for both Standalone and Paired installations. To install the side panels, configure the following steps:

  1. Position the panel so the oval cutout (a) is on the bottom near the back of the station.

Slightly tilt the right side panel and slide its top edge under the bottom edge of the area light bar. Align the holes in the side panel with the guide pins on each side of the frame.

  2. Using a step ladder, hold the side panel and loosely secure the top two captive screws with a T25 Torx screwdriver.

Technical illustration depicts the procedural step.

  3. Use a T25 Torx screwdriver to loosely secure the bottom two screws. Loosely secure the middle two screws just above the Power Module mechanism.

  4. Access to the middle screws is easier with the Power Module mechanism handle in the closed (down) position.

Technical illustration depicts the procedural step.

  5. Use a T25 Torx screwdriver to tighten all six right side panel screws. Torque the screws to 2.8 Nm (25 in lb).

  6. Repeat the preceding steps to install the left side panel.

Technical illustration depicts the procedural step.

REVERSE THE ABOVE STEPS TO INSTALL THE UPPER AND LOWER REAR PANEL, POWER MODULE, FRONT LOWER PANEL, TOP FRONT PANEL, AND THE AREA LIGHT BAR.

When reinstalling, ensure the cables at the top of the panel are not captured by the front upper panel and are easily accessible for reinstalling the area light bar.

Power On the Station

Ensure all panels are installed before powering station on.

Once all parts are installed, power on the Express 280. The Express 280 runs a self test to verify that it can operate properly.

RISK OF SHOCK. If a fault exists, turn the power off at the service panel to BOTH product paired charging stations during work and keep it off until all panels are reinstalled. Internal components can present a shock hazard. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR LOSS OF LIFE.
