Create a New Connection

You can customise the benefits that you intend to offer to the drivers.

Fields with * are mandatory.

To create a connection, complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to your ChargePoint Driver Management Solution account, navigate to DriversConnections > New Connection.

  2. Enter the following information:

    Field

    Description

    Organisation Name

    Name of the organisation associated with the connection.

    Organisation Name for Drivers

    Enter a user-friendly name that drivers will see.

    Connection Name

    Enter a name for the connection that specifies a combination of the company name and the benefit (Home, Public etc).

    Example:

    COMPANY NAME_ BENEFIT

    ABC Company_Public

    Connection Type

    Make sure that Leasing Company is selected as the Connection Type.

    Customer ID

    Enter the unique identification (ID) number that you use to record all transactions related to a customer or enitity, such as a customer relationship number from your CRM system. You can use this number to filter transactions made by a customer from the Reports page.

    Status

    Click the Enable check-box to ensure that the connection is visible to ChargePoint account holders. You can invite drivers only if you enable the connection. You can edit the connection in the future to disable it if the offered benefits or the customer no longer exist.

    Connection Logo

    Click the Upload file button to add an image in .gif, .jpg, or .png format. The image must be 60 x 30 pixels and no larger than 0.5 MB.

    Verify drivers by

    Enter a verification method that you want the drivers to provide when requesting for connection. For example, Employee ID, Loyalty serial card number, account number.

    Click on the + symbol next to the Request Additional Info to add additional details such as a vehicle license plate number or vehicle identification number (VIN). This helps you identify the leased EV a driver is using.

    The verification information provided by drivers in both the fields will be displayed as Driver verification 1 and Driver verification 2 on the Detailed transaction report page.

    Customer Support Email

    Enter an email address for your organisation's notifications and approvals. This email will be used to send notifications regarding the installation process, quotes for approval (if applicable) and Installer Declaration documents after completing installations.

    Provide Home Charger

    Select Yes if you want to provide a home charger that is linked to ChargePoint or No if you are not.

    Home warranty and labour

    Select Yes if you want to provide home warranty and labour or No if you are not.

    This option is applicable only if a home charger is provided.

    Installation Handled By

    Opt for a ChargePoint certified installer to manage the installation.

    Drivers invited to connect will be prompted to provide contact details while signing up. A ChargePoint certified installer will contact the drivers to install the home chargers. To check the status of a home charger installation, see Home Charger Installation Report.

    This option is applicable only if a home charger is provided.

    Installation Payment Model

    Select one of the following payment models:

    • Direct Model

    • Employee Programme

    • Budget Model

    • Customised Quoting

    This option is applicable only if a home charger is provided and installation is handled by ChargePoint.

    Reimburse Home Charging

    Select Yes if you are offering home chargers and want to reimburse the home charging session costs. The ChargePoint app prompts the drivers to provide their bank account details and the average price per kWh of energy at their home. ChargePoint will reimburse the cost of home charging sessions to the driver's bank account. Select No if you are not offering to reimburse home charging.

    Max Price For Reimbursement

    If you want to reimburse the home charging session costs, enter the maximum price you want to reimburse per kWh of energy consumed by the EV at home. When a driver enters a price higher than the maximum you have set, the ChargePoint app notifies the driver about the maximum reimbursement available per kWh.

    Tip: The maximum price can be an average energy cost in the region where the driver's house is located. For example, the average energy cost for household consumers living in European countries in the first half of 2024 was €0.29 per kWh (source: European Commission).

    This option is only applicable if Reimburse Home Charging is enabled.

    Home Charging Data Sharing

    Select Yes if you are offering home charging benefits. You can select No if you are not offering home charging benefits.

    Pay For Public Charging

    Select Yes if you are offering public charging benefits or select No if you are not.

    Payment via

    Select Direct Invoice Service.

    This option is only applicable if Pay For Public Charging is enabled.

    Approval type

    Select Auto to automatically approve incoming Connection Requests from all drivers. It will be automatically approved by the ChargePoint system.

    Select Manual to verify the connection requests you receive are from the drivers you have invited. When you receive connection requests from drivers, review and approve drivers for the offered benefits.

    Send notifications when a driver connects

    Select Yes or No from the drop-down list to indicate if a notification should be sent when a driver connects.

    Web Only

    Enabling this option will always open the invite link in a web browser.

    Custom terms and conditions

    Select Enabled or Disabled from the drop-down list to indicate whether you want the driver to agree to the terms and conditions when requesting for a connection to your organisation.

    You have the option to add a statement to which drivers must agree to complete their connection and receive the offer benefits. You can also choose to have a signed copy of the Terms and Conditions sent to a specified email so that you have a record of the agreement under that driver’s name. Use only plain text (ASCII) in the Terms and Conditions box. Do not include HTML or any other markup language.

    Send signed Ts and Cs to:

    Enter one or more comma-separated email addresses if you would like to receive an email whenever a driver agrees to your custom terms and conditions and connects to your organisation. For example, you might send this to your HR department as a record of the employee agreeing to your custom terms and conditions.

    This option is only applicable if Custom terms and conditions is enabled.

    Insert your terms and conditions here. Please enter only text (ASCII) and not HTML nor any other markup.

    This option is only applicable if Custom terms and conditions is enabled.

  3. Click Save to confirm the changes and Cancel to discard the changes.

As soon as the Connection is set up, send the connection link to the drivers. See Invite Drivers.

ChargePoint recommends that you do not edit an existing connection to revise the benefits after drivers have already signed up for the connection. To revise the benefits after the drivers have signed up for a connection, see Revise Benefits.
