LV, AC, and DC Surge Suppressors

This section provides instructions for replacing the LVClosed Low Voltage, AC, and DC surge suppressors in the Power Block.

Required Tools and Materials

Before You Begin

Before servicing the component, complete the following steps:

  1. Power off.

  2. Remove front upper, mid, and lower panels.

  3. Remove front door.

  4. Remove the right or left side transparent shield.

    • Right side for LVClosed Low Voltage, AC, and DC input surge suppressors.

    • Left side for DC output A and B surge suppressors.

AFTER REPLACING THE COMPONENTS, REVERSE THE ABOVE STEPS TO COMPLETE THE SERVICE.

Replace the Surge Suppressor

  1. Loosen the screws to disconnect the wires connected to a surge suppressor. Use Phillips screwdriver.

    • Low voltage (LVClosed Low Voltage) output surge suppressor.

      Torque the screws to 4.5 Nm (39.8 in-lb) when reconnecting the wires.

      Low voltage (LV) output surge suppressor.

    • AC input surge suppressor.

      Torque the screws to 4.5 Nm (39.8 in-lb) when reconnecting the wires.

      AC input surge suppressor.

    • DC input surge suppressor.

      Torque the screws to 4 Nm (35.4 in-lb) when reconnecting the wires.

      DC input surge suppressor.

    • DC output surge suppressor A (right side) or B (left side).

      Torque the screws to 4 Nm (35.4 in-lb) when reconnecting the wires.

      DC output surge suppressor A on the right side or B on the left side

  2. Pull the latch on a surge suppressor and then tilt out the surge suppressor to remove it.

    Replacing the Surge Suppressor and following are the Images from left to right: LV Out, AC In, DC Out A which is the right side suppressor, and DC In and Out B which is the left side suppressor

Reverse the above steps to reinstall with replacement FRUClosed Field Replaceable Unit.

While reinstalling, hook the surge suppressor to the mounting bracket, and then tilt it in and press on the latch side to mount it to the bracket.
