Covers Upgrade Kit

This topic provides information on servicing and replacing the covers upgrade kit.

Kit Components

This kit is for replacing the unassembled components with preassembled covers.

Before You Begin

  1. Refer to the site drawings and identify the charging stations to be serviced.

  2. End all charging sessions and activity for the stations to be serviced.

  3. Lift the charging cable off the holster.

  4. Remove all unassembled components.

  5. Remove the captive screws (x2) on the area downlight housing.

    Remove the two captive screws on the area downlight housing.

  6. Remove the thermoformed door faces (x2) and brackets (x2).

    1. Remove the M5 nuts (x5) (use 8 mm socket) on the upper and lower door faces to remove them.

      Upper Door Face

      Remove the five M5 nuts by using eight mm socket on the upper door face to remove them.

      Lower Door Face

      Remove the five M5 nuts by using eight mm socket on the lower door face to remove them.

       
    2. Loosen the M5 screws (x2) (use T25 security screwdriver) on the upper and lower door brackets, and slide them up to disengage the keyholes.

      Upper Door Bracket

      Loosen the two M5 screws using T25 security  screwdriver on the upper door brackets, and slide them up to disengage the keyholes.

      Lower Door Bracket

      Loosen the two M5 screws using T25 security  screwdriver on the lower door brackets, and slide them up to disengage the keyholes.

       

Replace CCOM Lens Bracket

To replace the CCOMClosed Control and Communications Module lens bracket, complete the following steps:

Remove

  1. Remove the M5 screws (x6) (use T25 security screwdriver).

    Remove the six M5 screws using T25 security  screwdriver

  2. If necessary, remove the gasket.

    If necessary, remove the gasket.

Reinstall

  1. Align and install the new lens bracket onto the two alignment pins.

    Align and install the new lens bracket onto the two alignment pins.

  2. Reinstall the M5 screws (x6) (use T25 security screwdriver). Torque to 2.8 Nm (25 in-lb).

    Reinstall the six M5 screws using T25 security  screwdriver and torque them

Install Cover Mount Brackets

  1. Position the upper cover mount bracket and install the M5 nuts (x2) (use 8 mm socket) to secure the bracket.

    Position the upper cover mount bracket and install the two M5 nuts using 8 mm socket to secure the bracket.

  2. Position the two lower cover mount brackets and install M5 nuts (x2) (use 8 mm socket) on each to secure the brackets.

    Position the two lower cover mount brackets and install two M5 nuts using 8 mm socket on each to secure the brackets.

  3. Torque the M5 nuts (x6) to 4.5 Nm (40 in-lb).

Affix Safety Label

  1. Find the new safety label in the kit packaging (see Kit Components).

  2. Affix it on top of the upper door by aligning the hole in the middle of the label with the stud on the door.

Complete Service

  1. Install preassembled covers.

  2. Return each charging cable to the holster.
