Before you begin
Make sure that you are working on the Sinbon Connector, ensure the connector looks as shown below.
Replace the Sinbon Connector Latch
-
Push the hex wrench from one end to push metal pin on the handle to release the latch.
-
Use pliers to pull the pin completely through.
-
Once metal pin is removed, the latch should become loose and allow the connector to be removed from the vehicle inlet.
-
Remove the latch and spring. Inspect the microswitch for damage or bent parts.
-
Press and release the microswitch. A clear, audible click must be heard each time.
If there is visible damage or no clear click, replace the entire cable instead of repairing. -
Insert a new spring into the cross feature on the underside of a new latch.
-
Place the latch on the cable handle, ensuring the spring sits vertically on the rounded seat.
If the spring is not set properly, it may have the potential to pop out and possibly get damaged when the latch is depressed. -
Push the metal pin through the cable handle to secure the latch and spring.
Make sure pin must be pushed through until it sits flush with the connector body.
-
Press and release the latch handle to confirm smooth up-and-down actuation.
-
Check for correction functioning of the cable by running a charging session with an electric vehicle. Make sure that the charging connector can be correctly plugged in and removed from the vehicle charging inlet.
